Plaxico Buress Predicts the Future

February 3rd, 2008 Eric Silva No comments

When Plaxico Buress predicted a NY Giants 23-17 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, everyone scoffed; most notably Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady. “We’re only going to score 17?” was Brady’s question. Well tonight, in the 4th quarter, Buress gave Brady his answer, “No. We’re going to score 17, and you’re only going to score 14. And even better, I am going to catch the game winning touchdown.”

With out a doubt one the best Super Bowl games in recent history. A very good defensive battle, with the offense coming through when needed. The Giants deserved to win this game. Their defense pressured Tom Brady and the New England offensive line all night. Eli Manning and his receiver made some absolutely brilliant throws and catches. The Patriots performance was on par with their other post season games. This one was really close too, but this time the result went the other way. I guess the old adage is true, ‘Nobody’s Perfect.’

You Gotta Be Fucking Kidding Me

First and foremost, I apologize for the harshness of the headline, but …

1 for 3 on field goals, and the Giants are going to the Super Bowl in Arizona. Bullshit. See you next fall.

2008 NFC Championship Game

January 20th, 2008 Eric Silva No comments

At 10:04pm EST, the New York Giants called tails in the overtime coin flip. It was heads. The Green Bay Packers elected to return the ball. Hopefully the Packers will prevail. It is currently 4°F with a -23°F wind chill. I will update with a final score after overtime.

Followup: Gay Makes You a Better Football Team

September 23rd, 2007 Eric Silva No comments

Keith Olbermann put it best when he compared the uniform to a canary mating with a bluebird, but if wearing a bird-fucking-bird jersey lets your wannabe QB throw 4 TD en route to a 56-21 win, then I would still never wear that thing. I would rather my team, Green Bay Packers, lose, which they didn’t (hell yeah!), then wear that silly jersey which belongs in the far back of the closet instead of jumping out of it flailing its arms around yelling “Here I am! Leave your deposit on my backdoor.”

Gay Makes You a Better Football Team

September 23rd, 2007 Eric Silva No comments

Apparently playing professional football in really gay attire makes you a better team.

The Philadelphia Eagles started this season 0-2 and had only scored one touchdown. But in Week 3 they came out of the tunnel sporting this garb, and have already scored 4 touchdowns in less that 17 minutes of play. And to make it worse, Karma has dealt me another blow and allowed Donovan McNabb to throw 2 TD to Kevin Curtis, who I currently have riding the fantasy bench. I suck.

I’ll post an update later, to see how the Boys in Baby Blue and Yellow make out against the Lions in the second half of the game.

Tony Kornheiser: Worst Monday Night Football Host, Ever!

December 4th, 2006 Eric Silva No comments

While I sit here watching the Eagles battle the Panthers, I am reminded of how absolutely awful Tony Kornheiser is as a football announcer. I thought Theismann was bad, but christ, Kornhieiser makes Joe look like Dan Dierdorf. Mike Tirico is the only competent one in the booth, and I guess we’re all lucky that he’s the one with the play-by-play duties.

And what the hell is with all the fantasy football talk from Kornholeser?!?! Is he getting paid by EPSN to push the fantasy site or what? I haven’t seen a bigger advertising whore since Anna Nicole Smith was pushing that TrimSpa shit on late night cable.

Point is Kornheiser is an ass, his commenting sucks, and ESPN should find somebody else for next season. I’d actually like to see Pat Summerall, Abe Vagoda, and Hugh Hefner in the booth. You would not be able to understand a goddamn thing they were saying, but at least it would not be the inane banter of Kornheiser (a.k.a. The Fluffer) and second-fiddle Theismann.
