Backyard Birds

August 21st, 2011 No comments

Mainly a few Tufted Titmouse and Black-capped Chickadees this morning and afternoon, but a White-breasted Nuthatch and Northern Cardinal came to visit just now. I am going to need to reposition and alter the feeder to prevent the squirrels and deer from eating all the birdseed.

Squirrelly Behavior

I think I found out why the bird feeder was empty this morning.  The birds aren’t the only ones enjoying the free food.

Thinking about it…

Backyard Birds

August 14th, 2011 No comments

So far this morning only a small group of Chipping Sparrows, a Northern Cardinal, a couple of Tufted Titmouse, and a gray squirrel has visited the feeder. I think the rain is keeping the feeder birds at home this morning.

After lunch a Blue Jay and Black-capped Chickadee came for a snack.

Leave No Trace – Trainer

November 8th, 2010 No comments

This past weekend I completed a 16-hour course to become a certified Trainer by the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics headquartered in Boulder, CO.  It was a fantastic course that enhanced my understanding of the seven principals of Leave No Trace, and providing a wealth of knowledge to enable me to educate others on the practices and ways that we can ensure our outdoor activities are low impact to preserve our natural resources so those that follow can enjoy the same experience.

If anyone is interested in organizing an awareness session for Scouts, youth, or other organizations, please let me know.
